[Desk Settings](https://knowledgebase.clearooms.com/settings?hsLang=en-gb#desk-settings) # Check In And Check Out ## Manage Office Attendance and Booking Accuracy with Check In/Out Settings The Check In/Out feature allows Users to see if a person has arrived in the Office and provides valuable reporting on [utilisation](https://portal.clearooms.com/reports/utilisation).  Users with the Admin role can check in (and out) other people or you can give this scope to other roles (or create your own role) There are 5 setting options in the Check In page: - **Enable Check In** To turn on Check In open [Settings \> Hot Desks \> Check In](https://portal.clearooms.com/settings/hot-desks/checkin) and turn on "Check in Required". Exceptions can be enabled for offices and Teams by turning on''No offices disabled'' or ''No Teams disabled''. These options will allow you to select certain offices or Teams to enable check in for.  - **Enable Automatic Cancelation when not checked in** This option cancels any booking after the period you select (default is 30 minutes). When you first turn this feature on it will not trigger any cancellations or historical bookings made for the current day. Only bookings from the following day will be auto cancelled.  - **Enable Check Out** To turn on Check Out open [Settings \> Hot Desks \> Check in](https://portal.clearooms.com/settings/hot-desks/checkin) and turn on "Allow Check Out"  Once turned on, when users check out of a desk it will become immediately available for others to book. - **Enable Check In Reminders** Turning this on will send a reminder email to all users at 9.05am if there are any bookings for the same day or in the past that have not yet been checked into. - **Require QR Code Check in** The final option is to enable check in via QR Code only. You can create a QR Code kiosk from Settings \> Account \> Kiosks to show a QR code on a tablet device or a TV. When scanned the user is checked into any desks booked for today automatically. ![check in and out](https://knowledgebase.clearooms.com/hs-fs/hubfs/check%20in%20and%20out.png?width=620&height=346&name=check%20in%20and%20out.png) ### **Step Out of Office** Although not enabled here (enabled under Settings \> Hot Desks \> Rules) the Step out option is a way of users marking themselves as out of the office without having to check out and re-book a space when returning.
